How To Apply At Textbroker

Textbroker is a company that hires freelance writers to create articles for its clients.  Textbroker is a great place for new writers to start out and get a feel for the freelance writing world.  Once a freelance writer starts writing for Textbroker, their work will be rated and pay is associated with the rating and the numbers of words of the article.  Although some articles may pay on the lower end of the scale they are usual pretty quick to complete and do not require much research.  There are also opportunities to earn $10 or more for an article, especially for those freelance writers with 4 and 5 star ratings.  If you are at least 18 years old and live in the United States, you can write at Textbroker. Follow these steps to apply at Textbroker:

Step 1:  Go to the Textbroker website. Read all the information provided and decide if you would like to proceed to sign up as a freelance writer.

Step 2: Go to the Authors tab. At the top there is an orange link that says “New Registration – become an author”, click on it. Of course, make sure you read this page for information about being an author at Textbroker, including pay.

Step 3: Read the page. You will have to fill out a questionnaire that includes providing your name, address, email address, and birth date.  You are asked to select your areas of expertise and to create a user name and password.  Accept the terms of service and click on the “sign up” button at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: You will then receive an email to activate your Textbroker account. Go log into Textbroker with your user name and password.

Step 5: When you log in for the first time, you must submit a writing sample. Textbroker will review and rate your sample. This may take a couple days, or you might receive an email within a few hours. Once your sample is rated, you can then log in and start writing articles. You will only see articles that you can write, based on your rating. So if you are rated as a 3 star writer, you will only see articles for 1, 2, and 3 stars. If you are a 4 star writer you will see articles for 1, 2, 3, and 4 stars. Most people start out as a 3 or 4 star writer. 5 star writers are experts and have the opportunity to write at any level, though 5 star articles get paid a lot more than the other levels.  The previous 5 articles that are rated are averaged out, so you have the opportunity to move up in ratings. The better your writing is, the more stars you will be rated, and the more money you will be paid!

Step 6: Send in a W9 so you can be paid. Textbroker, like most other content writing companies, require a completed W9 prior to sending out any payments. Once they receive your W9, you will get a confirmation email.

Step 7:  Start writing and getting paid!

Hi Janis, you have a great blog.

You’re right. TextBroker is great for people starting out. The editors even seem pretty cool, and they’ll throw you an occasional compliment when you do a good job on an article. When you’re new to freelance writing, that kind of positive encouragement is helpful.

Just so you know. There aren’t any 1-star articles. I guess if TextBroker thinks someone is a 1-star writer, then they just don’t let them write for their site.

Thanks for the compliments Rick! And, thanks for pointing out that there is no 1 star writers at Textbroker! Even though it is great for new freelance writers, I think it’s great filler work for experienced freelancers too. A lot of the articles can be written quickly, so that may make up for the lower payments. I still write articles here and there. I agree, the editors are pretty nice there!

Thanks Corine! I”m glad you just stumbled onto me! I really have no secrets on linking! I have just exchanged links with online friends, I put their link on my site and they put my link on theirs! I also put a link to my website at the end of all my emails, on my Facebook page, and any forums I belong to. I also signed up on a couple blog directories, like She Told Me where you can promote your blog AND earn adsense revenue, Blog Top Sites, and The Mom Blogs.
