I’m so exited to have my first magazine article published at Sashay Magazine! Take a look: Talking To The Waters
I had so much fun writing this piece, that I’m going to do another one for Sashay Magazine.
Having a magazine article published makes me feel even more like a real freelance writer. I’m not sure exactly why. Maybe it’s because being published in a magazine is harder to accomplish than writing for content companies. Maybe its because being published in a magazine is more respectable than writing for content companies. But, I just feel pretty happy to have my first magazine article published!
Now that I’ve done this magazine article, I think I might look around and find others. It may take a little more work upfront to research magazines, submit quarries, and the articles are typically longer than when writing for content companies, but the pay is usually significantly higher for magazine articles. I’ll have to carve out some time, even if it’s just a couple hours every few months, to find more magazines to write for.

Congrats on your published article. I know what you mean – it feels like a big accomplisment to see your work in print. I know that friends and family do not always consider you a “real” writer if you write online, but if you are being paid – you are a real writer.

I just came across your blog and find you offer very useful information to freelance writers. Congrats on your first published piece. That is very exciting. I am interested in your submission process. I have written for several online entities but have never pitched an article for publication in a print magazine. How did you go about submitting or pitching your article?
