Wow, Cloud Crowd is a really hot topic these days! Since I’ve talked about it before, I noticed that my posts lacked specific information about the pay.
What I love best about Cloud Crowd pay is that it’s daily! Yes, they pay out at the end of every single week day, via PayPal. This is great if you need money quickly. It is also great since most other companies pay out monthly. A couple pay out twice a month. You’re lucky to find a content site that pay’s weekly, I only know of a few (Vally Direct Media, Demand Studios – 2x a week)
One thing to point out about CloudCrowd is that they do NOT pay on weekends and holidays. Any work done over a weekend or a major holiday will be collected in your account until the next business day. I don’t mind since I try my best to take the weekends off. We all need a break every few days!
There are a few different types of writing and editing jobs that can be done at CloudCrowd. In order to complete work for each of these categories, you must pass a credentials test to prove your writing ability. This is important since there is no application process and you don’t need to submit writing samples. This makes writing for CloudCrowd great for a new freelancer with not much experience.
Besides writing, Cloud Crowd also has editing and translation services. The translation jobs are in high demand and if you can translate between English and French, you can earn $20 per article!
Each type of writing and editing project has a different level of pay.
For example:
General Writer Credential
- Write Blog Post -$4.45 plus bonus, for about 315 words
- Write Article – $6.00 plus bonus, for 275 – 315 words
Marketing Level 1 Writer Credential
- Write Product Descriptions – $0.76, plus bonus, for 35-45 words
Marketing Level 2 Writer Credentials
- Write Press Releases – I’m not sure of this pay as I do not write these!
English Editor Credentials
- Review previously written content – Pay varies but I believe it’s under a dollar per article. I also think there is a bonus.
Cloud Crowd Pay Bonus
- When your articles are approved with no errors, you will get the bonus amount stated at the top of each project. If the editor needs to “fix up” your article, then you will only receive the base pay.
Also, these pay rates can change. When a type of project is in high demand, the price will increase.. but my list will give you a general idea of CloudCroud pay.
One final word about Cloud Crowd pay is that if you refer people, you will earn a percentage of what they make. So, Cloud Crowd also has some passive income potential! (Yes, my links will put you into “my Crowd”!) Hey, money is money and I’ll take all that I can get!
Okay, that wasn’t really my final word about Cloud Crowd… here’s some more important information that just popped into my head that I want to share:
They are still a bit quirky. You do not have the ability to fix any errors, your work is either accepted or rejected. If your article is rejected and you think it is unjust, you can appeal it.
There is also a known bug where the system automatically rejects articles, so you simply post the job number in the support forum and a Cloud Crowd employee will manually review your article and approve or reject. If approved, your writing credibility will return to what it was and you will be paid for the article.
Each article that is rejected will have the reasons stated when you open that project up, with comments from the editor down at the very bottom. So you can see exactly what you did wrong. If you don’t agree with the editor, you can appeal it. There are rules for appealing, so make sure you understand them.
You also collect credibility points. For each accepted article, your credibility points will increase. For rejected articles, they decrease. Most projects have a minimum credibility level requirement, so you want to consistently do good work so you will have a high credibility and can have your choice of articles to write.
If an article is rejected, but then changed to approved, your credibility will rise to show that change.
I believe the highest you can be is 100. If you fall below 40, there isn’t much work you can do. If you fall to 20 or below, you are put on probation.
As I’ve said previously, I write a lot here. It is still quirky, and I still get aggravated sometimes, but all in all I think the daily pay and the ease of the level of work is worth while. Did I mention that they provide you with references so you don’t have to go searching yourself?
Finally, and this time I really mean it, Cloud Crowd has their own message board where you can talk about the company, articles, report problems, ask questions, or simply get to know other Cloud Crowd people!

Thanks for this information about CloudCrowd. I’ve only recently heard about them and they seem to be one of the better sites like this, even if they are still very new. Perhaps they are aiming to be the next Textbroker?
Who knows. But the fact that they’ve got this Facebook application looks like very savvy marketing and I suspect they’ll just keep growing and growing.
