This has been an incredibly hard week! I can’t wait for the weekend. Not only has my laptop shit the bed, my youngest son wasn’t feeling well. This combination makes for a small paycheck, and like many people these days, I desperately need my paycheck!
My laptop has been a little quirky for a while. I just knew I had a virus, but couldn’t find it. All the scans came back clean. Yet every once in a while I’d get the blue screen of death. A simple reboot would remedy the problem and I’d continue working.
Well, it was just my luck that Monday morning my computer wouldn’t simply reboot. It would just cycle from the blue screen of death, to the repair process screen. It would say my computer can’t be repaired, shut down and restart, and once again I’d be staring at that blue screen. After a few hours I finally admitted defeat.
Now, while some may think that isn’t so bad, especially since I have a desktop, I will point out that I have a 2 year old with me all day long. He does not like me sitting in the office and will climb all over me, sit in my lap and press all the keys, and even cry. Usually, I work on my laptop in the living room.
To make up for the lack of writing time I have been staying up late, REALLY late, every single night. And I’m so tired, after only getting three hours a sleep for a few nights in a row, that these late nights are not very productive.
I need my laptop back!
I have to say that one downfall of freelance writing is that there isn’t much room for not making your daily earning goal. If you don’t, your bills will not be paid. In a work out of the home job, if you have a slow day, you still earn your regular salary.
Did I mention that I really need my laptop back so I can get back onto my regular schedule… get more work done in the day and not have to stay up late at night?
What do you do when you have a hiccup like this in your schedule? It’s times like these I wish I had more of a passive income coming in. It makes me put Suite101.com back onto my list of goals. I’m going to start working harder to get more articles up there so I can earn some residual income.
My Brother In Law works with computers so I’m hoping this is something he can fix quickly. I PRAY this is something he can fix quickly. (And I’m not a praying type of person.) He’s away on a business trip so I will ask him when he comes home. Until then… I’m suffering… and…
I miss my blue Dell Studio 17″ laptop computer!

I feel your pain. When my laptop died I bought a netbook – cheap and portable, great for writing with!
